FLEXIBLE & DIVERSE OPTIONS FOR GAINING REQUIRED PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE HOURS (50 Hours Required)

  • Family Member Care: Gain experience by supporting a family member who is approaching the end of life, applying skills in a real-world setting.
  • Community Outreach: Partner with local community organizations or care facilities to volunteer and support end-of-life care needs.
  • Group Study Projects: Participate in group projects that simulate end-of-life care scenarios, allowing for practical application of skills and collaborative learning.
  • Virtual Volunteering: Engage in remote volunteering opportunities where you can support patients and families through virtual communication, focusing on emotional and logistical support.
  • Local Hospice Partnerships: Collaborate with hospices outside the immediate area to complete hours in your local community.
  • Workshops and Seminars: Attend workshops or seminars related to end-of-life care, where you can practice and refine hands-on skills.
  • Role-Playing Exercises: Integrate role-playing activities that mimic real-life situations, helping you gain confidence and experience in handling different scenarios.
  • Peer Support Groups: Join peer support groups to practice active listening and support skills in a controlled environment.
  • Case Study Development: Develop and analyze detailed case studies, focusing on practical decision-making and care strategies.
  • Internships with Other Care Organizations: Arrange internships with home care agencies, senior centers, or similar organizations that involve end-of-life care components.  
  • Assistance with Placement for those in the San Francisco Bay Area.
